These terms cover your use of the Altpass website, checker, API and fix script (“the service”). By using the service you agree to them.
1. License
A paid plan gives you a personal, non-transferable license to use the service within that plan’s limits (credits, sites, audit size, API access) while your subscription is active. Your license key is like a password: don’t share it publicly. Agencies may use their plan for client sites they manage.
2. Fair use
Only check and audit sites you own, manage, or have permission to test. Don’t use the service to overload sites, get around access controls, or scrape content for other purposes. We rate-limit requests and may suspend keys or networks that abuse the service.
3. Credits
Credits are counted per calendar month (UTC) and reset on the 1st; unused credits don’t roll over. A credit is used only when an alt text is successfully generated.
4. Payments, renewals and refunds
Plans are monthly memberships sold through Gumroad, which handles billing and taxes. You can cancel any time in Gumroad; your plan stays active until the end of the paid period. If you’re not satisfied, request a refund within 14 days of a purchase or renewal and we’ll refund that payment.
5. AI-generated output
Alt text suggestions are generated automatically and can be wrong. You’re responsible for reviewing them before publishing. You own the alt text you approve and may use it anywhere.
6. No compliance guarantee
Altpass helps you find and fix image accessibility problems. It does not guarantee compliance with WCAG, the ADA, the European Accessibility Act or any other law or standard, and nothing on the site is legal advice.
7. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service running but don’t promise uninterrupted availability. Features may change; if we make a material change to paid features we’ll tell users through the site, and you can cancel.
8. No warranty; limitation of liability
The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim, and we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses.
9. Termination
You can stop using the service at any time. We may suspend access for breach of these terms. Sections 5, 6 and 8 survive termination.
